As women in heart-centred business, how to be brave in your business can sometimes elude us. In order for you to manifest the vision for your business and create your version of success – we are required to be BRAVE. But do you know how to be braver in your business & life?
I mean, how many times have you been so scared to put yourself out there, felt not good enough or had imposter syndrome. When you didn’t know how to be brave in business.
How many times have you said “no” when you wanted to say “yes”? How many times did you say “yes” when your internal voice was screaming at us to “ABSOLUTELY NOT!”.
I can assume it would be many many times. The stories that so many heart-centred women in business have shared with me is a story of being scared to show up, to speak up and to be seen.
We have so many visions and dreams that we want to achieve, but usually, stay where it’s “comfortable” because of limiting beliefs and subconscious patternings.
So how do you move past our blocks and finally achieve your version of success and freedom? How do you actually become brave in your business? Here are some things I’ve learned from my experience and from working with many female business owners & entrepreneurs.
“I want to be in the arena. I want to be brave with my life. And when we make the choice to dare greatly, we sign up to get our asses kicked. We can choose courage or we can choose comfort, but we can’t have both. Not at the same time.” Brene Brown
5 tips on how to be brave in business as a female leader & entrepreneur
1. Focus on WHY you do your business.
If you come from a place of integrity and want to make a difference, then it will become less about you and more about the people you want to serve.
When you come from a place of service rather than from a place of ego and self, you’ll be more like to be inspired to show up and do the things that scare you. It will enable you to be more vulnerable to share your story in order to connect & help others that are on a similar path as you were.
- Write down WHY you do your business. If it doesn’t make you feel something within your body, then you haven’t reached your WHY yet. When you reach your WHY, you will feel it – believe me!
Hint: Your WHY is usually aligned with your deepest values e.g. family, freedom, health, money etc.
This will help motivate you to show up and be brave in your business & life. It’s certainly a start!
2. Find Evidence in your Life where you’ve chosen BRAVERY.
When we find evidence in our lives it shows us that if we’ve done it before, we can do it again. WE ARE CAPABLE OF SHOWING UP & BEING BRAVE.
Showing up, launching and selling your services is essential in your business and requires a certain amount of courage to do so – ESPECIALLY when your business is created from your purpose & passion and very close to your heart.
Find a quiet spot and get your journal out. Write down ALL the times when you’ve chosen COURAGE over FEAR.
Bravery is all about showing up when you’re feeling fear.
I’ll show you a few examples of when I chose COURAGE in my business:
?The time when I quit my corporate 9-5 to become a singer with my husband (and go on to making $10-$20k months).
?The time when I found out I couldn’t have children naturally (long story) and had to turned to IVF for my miracle girls
?The time when I quit a business that I thought I loved and had put so much hard work into. Leaving affected many around me but turned out better than I ever thought it would.
?The time when I invested big time into a Coach in a very hard time of our financial life and returned so much more than I ever imagined.
?The time when I chose only to work with female soulpreneurs and say “no” to work that could have given my family income. That turned out awesome as well.
I could go on with a list.. but this is just an example to get you going.
This will show you that if you’ve done it in the past you can do it now.
It is giving you evidence that you CAN be brave in your business!
3. View your limiting beliefs with curiosity rather than judgement
This is a time to get REAL and vulnerable with yourself. If your limiting beliefs are holding you back, then no matter what strategy you use, you’re always going to be “stop/start”.
You might get even 80% of the way to your goals, but if you have subconscious beliefs holding you back, you’re either not going to make it out of the gate OR get halfway there and sabotage yourself.
So what to do?
First things first, you need to identify what holds you back and make steps to rewire those beliefs that you store within your, brain, your body & energy centres.
- Instead of viewing your limiting beliefs with judgement, view them as you would view a small child having trouble with something and view it with empathy & curiosity.
- You can start by writing down all the things that hold you back and why.
- When was the first time in your life that you started feeling like that?
- What would you say to that previous version of yourself when you started believing that certain idea?
- If it was true then, is it true now?
- What is the cost of believing that belief now? What will happen if you keep believing that belief?
Get support by seeing a kinesiologist, NLP or RTT therapist to help you rewire those subconscious patterns so you can finally break through.
4. Get clarity & alignment in your business
When you have clarity on ALL aspects of your business and it is completely aligned to your values, then you’ll have more confidence to move forward in your business.
When you know:
- your ideal audience or niche
- your WHY (which encompasses your brand mission, transformational statement & your story)
- your WHAT (services, packages, courses, products & pricing); and
- your HOW (your marketing strategy)
Then you’ll automatically be able to take steps to a thriving business that you love.
The problem is that this step is usually skipped and most people start their business at the logo & website stage.
This is a mistake I see over and over again after working with hundreds of women starting their businesses.
There is a LOT to do before we get to visual branding & your website, which is why I created my course THRIVE ONLINE to help women dive deeply into the foundations of their business and get absolute clarity.
Without clarity, you won’t have confidence and consistency which is essential to a thriving online business.
5. Embody your version of BRAVERY.
“But I’m not brave!!” you say. “How can I embody something that I’m not?”
Yeah – I get it! I’ve said the same thing.
Remember Tip #2? Find evidence?
Go back to those times and really tap into:
- How you felt
- How you acted
- How you handled those situations
If you’ve done it before, you’ve obviously embodied bravery & courage in your life – so bring that back with you.
Start making the decision to do something like that each day.
Something that scares you but you know needs doing.
Start by making choices that lead you to the place you want to be and EMBODY that.
Feel the fear & do it anyway! Being braver in your business means that you have to DO it despite the fear.
You don’t have to leap if it’s too much, but when you make small steps toward your goal, then you’ll start to embody the confidence that has previously been evading you.
Did this help you with how to be brave in your business? I’d love to hear back and see what steps you are making to finally unlock your power and make those brave steps to move forward in your beautiful business.
